William Conroy Lindsay is a prolific young pop artist whose signature-like 'squiggles' have decorated many canvases, walls, automobiles, apparel and home furnishings. His paintings were recently on view at NYC's Saks Fifth Avenue windows where 50 of his paintings provided an artistic and graphic counterpoint to the fashion-forward menswear on display. The displays that incorporated his paintings prominently covered two corners of the building and were widely praised by both Saks patrons, staff and passersby. Like other pop artists before him, Mr. Lindsay's works continue to blur the line between art and commerce..
1.Describe your driving force or motivation to create artwork. I always look forward to the visual outcome of my work because it is always a surprise, which is a driving force to create my work. I find my work to be very soothing and calming after a long day of work I may dislike to do. To create it and get away from this somewhat crazy world we live in for a moment. Seeing the end result of my squiggle design makes me feel wonderful and very much alive.
